Customers are still having a few problems with Netflix after their site was down for almost 11 hours. Steve Swasey – the spokesman for Netflix – said that customers will still not be able to access their recommendations and ratings section of the site.

An Internet test was taken this week and it showed that “intelligent” peer-to-peer traffic can dramatically lower network utilization and speed up downloads for any subscribers. Verizon participated in the study – which was headed by Yale University – will be releasing all of the details this week at the Distributed Computing Industry Association’s P2P Market Conference in New York City.

It seems that Google has gotten itself in trouble with a UK civil liberties group. Privacy International stated that Google tried to discredit a report that showed the company to be below Microsoft and Apple. Google also allegedly labeled the group as “hostile to privacy”. “Your representative, or representatives, made particular reference to one member of our 70-member international advisory board. This man is a current employee of Microsoft,” said the Privacy International director, Simon Davies.

The Defense Department has decided to activate a new policy that will cut soldiers that are overseas off from their loved ones and friends back at home. Popular websites such as, YouTube, Myspace and at least 11 other web sites will be blocked “worldwide”. The memo was sent out friday by the U.S. Forces Korea commander, General B.B. Bell.

Microsoft Corp., the world’s largest software maker, released a test version of its new Silverlight online media program. This program is said to be a rival to Adobe Systems Inc.’s dominant Flash player. At Microsoft’s MIX ‘07 conference for Web developers and designers, the company said it will also offer a companion service that allows streaming video for Silverlight.

Australian Nintendo Wii owners are excited to know that they will be able to compete against each other online for the first time in June. However, none of the existing titles will support internet play and only two forthcoming games have been announced as having online multiplayer capabilities. Today Nintendo announced it had partnered with GameSpy, a division of Fox Interactive Media that specialises in multiplayer gaming technology, to bring online play functions to the Wii.

A man is facinf a felony charge after he supposedly uploaded a copy of the brand new film “Flushed Away” onto the Internet after getting a copy from an Oscar voter. Salvador Nunez Jr., 27, was charged with copyright infringement and faces up to three years in prison if convicted. He was scheduled to appear in court March 1.
