Samsung has agreed to equip their devices with special software that will allow consumers to stream online videos from Netflix. Users will be able to use the two new Blu-ray disc players to download the videos and watch them instantly through their online service. The players themselves will cost around $400.
Netflix has been working with several equipment manufacturers to allow this new feature and to give users the opportunity to watch more then 12,000 movies and television shows instantly. They hope that people will not just have to use their computers or wait for it to come in the mail. They are hoping that by allowing people to watch movies instantly on their televisions screens they will be able to reach more people.
The only other equipment that offers this new feature at this time is the Blu-ray disc player from LG Electronics – which costs $350. You can also use the Xbox 360 console and a $100 set top box built by Roku.
